The
Rainbow World
Long ago when Mother Earth was first beginning, there
were beautiful rainbows everywhere.
There was one giant island and everyone in the world lived on this
island. There were many different kinds
of people on this Island. There were all different colors of people just like
the rainbows. There were Radiant Red
people and Yummy Yellow people. There
were Precious Pink people and Gorgeous Green people. There were Priceless
Purple, Outrageous Orange, and Brilliant Blue people. Everyone loved and appreciated each other for
their special color and unique personalities.
All
the children of the earth played and worked happily together and enjoyed all
the beauty of the world. They loved the blue oceans and the red earth. They loved the lush green of the grasses and
the purple of the sunsets. They loved
the yellow of the sun. They loved all the flowers that were every size, shape
and color of the rainbow. The Great Mother Earth and Father Sky watched over
and loved their precious children and would create beautiful rainbows for them
to enjoy every day. They all lived in
harmony with each other just like the colors of the rainbow. Mother Earth and Father Sky were very happy
with their children but they told them they had to go on a journey and to make
sure to keep loving each other and the rainbows would continue.
Then
one day one of the Orange children heard a Blue person say to another Blue
person.
“I’m
so glad I am a blue color. Blue is so
much more brilliant than Outrageous Orange.” The Orange child’s bright smile
fell when she heard this and she went home to ask her parents if what she had
heard was true. The Orange parents were
outraged when they heard this. Another day all the children were laughing and
playing in the park. One of the children
said,
“Hey,
I have an idea. Let’s have the Yellow team play the Purple team.”
Everyone
thought that would be a good idea until the Yellow team started winning. All
the Yellows started cheering but the Purple team got mad and started booing the
Yellow Team and that made the Yellow and Purple people mad at each other.
Pretty soon there started to be groups of colors that would only walk with each
other. The Green people only walked with the Green people and the Pink people
only walked with the Pink people. The
Reds only hung out with the Reds and the Yellows only
hung out with the Yellows. The different
colors stopped appreciating each other and started getting in lots of
fights. Then one day the Yellows went
over to the Purple’s houses and painted something rude on the brick wall by
their house. This made the Purple people
mad and so they threw a rock through one of the Yellow people’s windows.
Soon none of the colors were getting along with each
other. And no one liked any other color but their own color. The misdeeds done
to other colors began to get worse and worse and pretty soon a war broke out
between the colors. The big Island had
some Earthquakes and began to break apart and then each color lived on their
own island and thought that they were better than the others. There was only
one thing wrong with their new world, there were no more rainbows. The people began to be sad because they
really missed the beautiful rainbows every day.
One Day Mother Earth and Father Sky returned from their journey. They noticed that their beautiful world had
broken apart and all their children were fighting and mad at each other and had
separated from each other. It made them very sad. They began to cry and their tears made the clouds
rain. It rained and it rained. It was a very gloomy time. The sun did not come out and shine for many
days. All the children became very sad and wondered why the sun didn’t shine.
Mother Earth and Father Sky were too sad to talk to their children after they
saw what happened to the world.
Then
the children of Father Sky and Mother Earth started to realize that they had
created all this rain by not being loving to one another as their parents had
asked them to do and that Mother Earth and Father Sky were crying because they
were so sad. They missed the rainbows. They
missed their parents, and they realized they really missed their friends of
many colors. They wondered what they could do to make things right again and
bring back the rainbows.
“I
know what we can do,” said a Yellow person. “I’m going to send my friend on the
Green Island a letter and tell her how much I miss her and how pretty I think
her color is.”
“That
is a good idea, said another Yellow person. “ I’m going to do the same thing
but I am going to write a letter to a Blue person.”
When
the Green and Blue people got their letters it softened their hearts a little
and so they wrote a thank you letter back to the Yellow people. Soon all the colors were sending each other
nice letters and everyone starting feeling a lot better about each other.
One
day they noticed that the rain had stopped and sun was peeking out from behind
a cloud. They really hoped that the sun coming back might mean that Mother
Earth and Father Sky would return too, and bring back the rainbows.
All the colors of people realized that they needed to be
kind and loving to one another as Father Sky and Mother Earth asked them to
do. They remembered that they had told
them if they wanted Rainbows they needed to love one another. Each color began
to do something nice for a color different than their own and began
complimenting each other on their beautiful colors.
“You are the most gorgeous Green color I have ever seen!
“said a Blue person.
“Thank you, said the Blue person, “Green is one of my
favorite colors.”
After a while there was no more fighting and everyone
began to live in peace and harmony. The islands starting drifting together into
one giant island again like it had been in the beginning of the world.
One day a yellow person walked out on her sidewalk and
looked up at the sky.
“Look,
it’s a rainbow. It’s a big beautiful
rainbow!”
Another
orange person was playing in the back yard and looked up about the same time
and noticed the rainbow too.
Soon
everyone was looking and pointing at the first rainbow they had seen in a long
time. Suddenly they heard thunder and
saw lightning in the sky and then pitter, pitter, pat. The rain began to fall
but the sun still peeked through the clouds and the rainbow kept shining
bright.
Then
in the distance they could see two people coming toward them through the
rainbow. It was Father Sky and Mother Earth.
They all began to cheer and celebrate that their parents had returned.
“Your
love has brought us back,” said Mother Earth.
“Thank you for loving each other enough that
the rainbows returned. If you always
keep loving and caring for each other, there will always be rainbows. Then they all began singing the rainbow song
that they used to sing before the rainbows had gone away.
We need all
the colors of the rainbow
To show us
the beauty in our world

the colors of the people
To show us
the beauty in our world
Every color
has a perfect light
A certain
color that can make the rainbow bright
And every
person has a special song
Their own
music they can bring along
We
need all the colors of the rainbow
To share
their own important ray
We need all
the colors of the people
So all can
join in and say
That every
color has a perfect light
The perfect
color that can make the rainbow bright
And every
person can join in to sing
About the
joy that ever person brings
We need all
the colors of the rainbow
To show us
the beauty in our world
