Slipping Through Time A Poetry Collection in Four Parts

This is an anthology of poems through three parts of my life.  The first section is "Awakening" and is about some of my experiences as a child. The poems follow here:

Awakening

The world is full of life
                                                Things    growing
 Moving   Changing
 Crawling         Creeping
 Dying        Sleeping
My   senses   connect    to
Blue skies          Birdsong
My   mother’s touch
 My   father’s   voice
Sand       dirt
Coolness     Heat
The    Sun
The     Moon
Trees    and     their    shade
 Fragrance of    lilacs
 Blowing      Dandelions
My  new  world fills me up with wonder

Flutter Bye

                       Butterfly
                                                            Flutter
                                                                                                            bye
                        Lifting
                                                            Drifting
                                                                                                           Through the sky
                        Lighting
                                                            Softly
                                                                                                             on a  flower
                        Changing
                                                            Moving
                                                                                                              Hour by hour
                        Butterfly
                                                            Flutter
                                                                                                            bye
                        Like a petal
                                                            Floating
                                                                                                             by
                        Something    makes   me
                                                            Wonder
                                                                                                             why
                        Butterflies
                                                            Flutter
                                                                                                       Bye

                                                                     Tater Bug

Roly Poly Tater Bug
All curled up so nice and snug
With plated armor all around
You look like a little ball I’ve found
Roly Poly Tater Bug
Are you giving yourself a hug
You stay so still without a sound
Then you uncurl and come unwound

 Kitty Cat

Kitty Cat
Come and lay by me
                                       Kitty Cat
Tell me what do you see
With your wise green eyes staring at me
Kitty Cat
Let me feel your soft fur
Kitty Cat
Let me hear your calm purr
Kitty Cat
So gentle and true
Kitty, Kitty Cat
I really love you

Crickets Lullaby

Good night, sleep tight, the crickets sing a lullaby
Good night, sleep tight, they sing it low they sing it high
Good night, sleep tight, they sing a quiet song
Good night, sleep tight, they sing it all night long
The crickets sing a quiet tune, the crickets sing it to the moon
Good night, sleep tight, the crickets sing a lullaby
Goodnight, sleep tight, the crickets sing it to the sky
Good night, sleep tight, until the morning dew
Good night, sleep tight, may you have sweet dreams too

Spinning Spider

Spinning, spinning spider silver threads
Spinning in the garden on the leaflets edge
Spinning, spinning spider can you see
Can you see the lovely web you spin for me

Spinning spider I like your art
Spinning spider when did you start
Spinning spider your grand design
Spinning spider it’s very fine

Spinning, spinning spider in the morning dew
Little silver droplets stuck like glue
Spinning, spinning spider can you see
Can you see the lovely web you spin for me

Mr. Beetle Bug

Mr. Beetle bug
Where did you go
All dressed up in your tuxedo
Were you going to visit Katydid
Were you going to ask her
If she would like to wed

Mr. Beetle bug you do look so fine
Were you planning going out to dine
Mr. Beetle bug don’t forget your hat.
I hope you and Katydid have a nice chat

Song to a Cow

What are you doing
Staring and chewing
Chewing and chewing
Occasionally mooing

What are you thinking
Staring and blinking
Winking and blinking
Occasionally drinking

What are you doing
Chewing and Chewing
Staring and blinking
What are you thinking

Summer Fairies

My sister and I meet the fairies on summer afternoons
Down by the pond in the enchanted woods
By the tree that looks like an ugly old troll
They are shy so we just catch a glimpse of them
Out of the corner of our eye
They whisk away just out of sight
We know they are still there
We hope they will come out one day
To join us for muffins and tea

My Horse

My horse lunges underneath me
I am free
The wind does a dance through my hair
I am strong as thunder
Swift as the river
I fly through fields on falcon wings
My horse shines golden silk
His silver mane weaving strands of sunlight
